Sharing reports with clients
Give a customer a read-only link to a project's booked time, budget and, if you like, its tickets — no login required.
"Can you send us the hours for last month?" — you don't have to export anything. Every project can have a shared report link: a read-only web page showing the project's booked time, updated live, that you hand to anyone outside your workspace — typically the customer. No docket login required.
Creating a link
Open Project → Controlling → Timetrackings and click Share (Project Managers and Admins — a link can show the budget, so it takes the right to see it). Creating the link takes one decision — what the outside world gets to see:
- Show budget — include money: the project budget and the value of the booked time. Off = the report shows hours only.
- Show people — include who booked each entry. Off = entries appear without names, which some teams prefer for external audiences.
- Show tickets — add the project's tickets: number, title and whether each is open or closed, as a collapsible list below the report. Descriptions, comments and assignees are never shared. Off by default.
- Link expires (optional) — pick the last day the link works. From the day after, it opens nothing, as if it had been deleted.
Copy the link and send it. The URL contains a long random token — it can't be guessed, and only people who have the link can open it.
What the customer sees
A clean, read-only report with:
- an overview of the project's booked time (and budget, if enabled),
- a monthly view to browse month by month,
- the individual time entries with date, ticket and description — always the live state, never a stale export,
- if enabled, the tickets with number, title and open/closed — so "where are we?" is answered too, not only "how much time went in?".
Nothing else: no navigation into your workspace, no other projects, no rates beyond what the flags allow.
Changing your mind
You stay in control after sending:
- Change the flags any time (e.g. stop showing the budget) — the link stays the same, the visible data changes immediately.
- Set or move the end date in the share settings — an expired link opens again once its end date lies in the future.
- Delete the link and it's dead the moment you do — anyone opening it gets nothing. You can always create a fresh one later.
Good to know
- One link per project — sharing it with three people at the customer is fine; it's read-only either way.
- The link shows booked time, not your Controlling internals: external costs, invoices and forecasts are never part of it.
