Connect AI apps (Claude, ChatGPT, …)
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or your IDE about your projects and time, and let it book your hours — with exactly the access you have in docket.
You can connect docket to an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code. The app can then answer questions like these — always within what you can see in docket:
- "How much have I tracked this week, where are gaps, what did I forget?"
- "Which of my tickets are due this week?"
- "Show me the budgets of all projects for Acme. Where are we over budget?"
- "Which invoices are overdue?" and "How many quotations has Acme not confirmed yet?" (Project Managers and Admins)
- "What does the forecast look like for the rest of the year?" — the accounting dashboard and forecast (Admins)
- "Which designer still has time this week?"
And it can book time for you: "Book 1.5 hours on the header ticket of the website relaunch, design work."
docket uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard these apps use for connectors.
Before you start: an admin turns it on
AI connections are off for every workspace until an admin allows them:
- Go to Administration → Settings.
- Tick Allow AI connections (Claude, ChatGPT, …) and save.
Nothing reaches an AI app until then — and afterwards only from people who connect one themselves. Turning it off again stops every connection in the workspace immediately.
Connect an app
- In docket, open your profile settings (your name → Settings) and find AI connections.
- Copy your workspace's address — it looks like
https://yourcompany.godocket.app/mcp. - In the AI app, add a custom connector (Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom
connector; ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors; Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http docket <address>) and paste the address. - The app sends you to docket. Log in (with your two-factor code, if you use one) and check what the app asks for, then click Allow.
That's it — back in the app, docket shows up as a connector.
What a connected app can do
It acts as you and sees only what you can see in docket:
- Read projects, tickets, customers and time entries you have access to — and budgets, invoices, quotations and colleagues' workload exactly as far as your role shows them in docket. Revenue, budget amounts, invoices and quotations stay with Project Managers and Admins.
- Weekly overviews compare booked time with your working hours. docket doesn't know holidays or absences, so a day off shows up as a gap — the app is told so, too.
- Book, change and delete your own time entries — never anyone else's, even if you're an admin.
- Use your stopwatches: start, pause and resume them, rename them, correct the time, book one onto a ticket or discard it — the same stopwatches as in docket's sidebar.
AI apps can make mistakes. docket marks booking, changing and deleting as actions that need your confirmation, and apps like Claude ask you before each one. Your time entries look like any other in docket; you can always correct them there.
Disconnect
In profile settings → AI connections, click the bin icon next to the app. Its access ends at once. Changing your password or being removed from the workspace also disconnects every app.
Questions
Where does my data go? What the app reads from docket goes to that app's provider (for example Anthropic for Claude, or OpenAI for ChatGPT), under your or your company's agreement with them. docket sends nothing to an AI app unless you connected it yourself.
Can my colleagues see that I connected an app? No. Only you see your connected apps.
The app says it can't connect. Check that an admin allowed AI connections, and that you pasted the address from your workspace. If your workspace requires two-factor authentication, set it up in docket first.
