XRechnung · ZUGFeRD · Factur-X

Check an e-invoice. And read it.

Drop an XRechnung, a ZUGFeRD PDF or a Factur-X here. We validate it with the official tools, tell you whether a recipient has to accept it, and show you what it says.

Free, no account. The file is read for the check and discarded afterwards.

Every format, every profile.

We tell for ourselves what's in the file and hand it to the validator that knows it.

01

With the tools recipients use.

The KoSIT validator checks the XRechnung with the current XRechnung configuration: the reference for XRechnung, which also runs in invoice inboxes. Mustang, the ZUGFeRD project's validator, checks ZUGFeRD and Factur-X PDFs, with veraPDF for PDF/A-3.

Side noteWhen a ZUGFeRD PDF carries an XRechnung, the KoSIT validator checks the XML as well.
02

Every error with its rule and place.

Each finding names its rule, BR-DE-15 or BR-CO-16 for instance, the validator's text and the place in the XML. Your accountant or software vendor knows at once what to fix.

Side noteBR-DE rules come from XRechnung, BR-CO and BR-S from EN 16931 itself.
03

Readable, not XML.

Below the result, the invoice reads like an invoice: seller and buyer, lines, VAT, totals and bank details. So you can read an XRechnung you have no viewer for.

Side noteNothing is stored: the file sits in memory for the check only.

Short questions, short answers.

What does the check cost?

Nothing, and you need no account. We built it because docket writes e-invoices itself and checks them the same way.

Are my invoices stored?

No. The file is read for the check, handed to our validators in the same data centre in Frankfurt am Main and discarded afterwards. We only count how often files are checked and with what result, without anything from the invoice. More in the privacy policy.

What's the difference between XRechnung and ZUGFeRD?

Both follow the European standard EN 16931. XRechnung is plain XML with German rules on top, made for software. ZUGFeRD is a PDF anyone can open, with the same data as XML inside. In France the same format is called Factur-X.

Is ZUGFeRD MINIMUM an e-invoice?

Not in Germany. The MINIMUM and BASIC WL profiles lack data EN 16931 requires, so they don't meet the e-invoicing mandate. From BASIC upwards it is an e-invoice.

When do I have to send e-invoices?

Every business in Germany has had to be able to receive them since 1 January 2025. You have to issue them for invoices to other businesses in Germany from 1 January 2027 if your turnover in the previous year exceeded €800,000, and from 1 January 2028 regardless of turnover. More on our e-invoicing page.

The check reports errors. What now?

Send the result to whoever wrote the invoice: the rule and the place tell their software what's missing. A recipient usually still accepts an invoice with warnings and notes; with errors they may reject it.

Write invoices that pass. From the hours you booked.
